Anonymous asked: I swear there was a famous person in a magizine at Stop & Shop that said Elizabeth Smart. O.O
Yes indeed.
Her name is Elizabeth Smart, just like me, and when she was fourteen or so, she was kidnapped from her home in Salt Lake City by Brian David Mitchell and forced to live in the woods or a cave or something about twenty miles from her house for a little less than a year (where she suffered physical and sexual assault), until she was found and reunited with her family. She’s considered to be a huge success story in the field of kidnapping/missing children, most obviously because she was found, but also because she has gone on to lead a very stable life: going to college for music, becoming a commentator with a ABC news for missing children, and most recently, getting married (which is why she’s back in the news again).
Naturally I’ve been getting crap about this story since I was nine years old, mainly from substitute teachers who asked me if I was related to her and darling school chums who assured me that ‘I was probably next’.
You’re welcome for Missing Persons History Lesson of the Day.
